After growing up in big bustling city, I moved to Cornwall in search of a simpler, slower way of life. Although eager to breath the sea in deeply, I specifically moved for university; to study sustainability and climate science; environmental politics, alternative lifestyles and the relationship between nature and culture.
What fascinated me was the way we live and the ideas that inform the way we live. Mythology in particular interested me; in telling stories that illustrate how we understand the world and our place within it. It’s this storytelling-notion that’s at the heart of all the work I do.
Once graduated I relocated further out into the sticks and began my own storytelling. This first took the form of a blog. This blog to be exact. Entitled On Serpentine Shores, as I documented my new life on the Lizard peninsula.
In time I found my blog led to work down here. Both with local photographers as well as those within the wedding industry; creating design concepts, providing art direction and styling spaces for commercial photoshoots and wedding days. In time I found my feet and decided to provide these services professionally under my own name.
Once again I found myself storytelling, as to my mind, styling is like a kind of narration. It’s about expressing ideas through imagery, objects, spaces and events. Articulating a concept through hue and tone; composition and shape. Style is the abstract made material.
